In the ECCE cataract surgery, 6 around 5 stitches are required for closure of the incision line. In Phaco- emulsification, a valve type of incision is made with the help of diamond blades and peratomes. This incision is self sealing in nature and usually does not require any stitches. very rarely suturing may be required.
